Job Process

Here’s a quick summary of the job process you can expect from the CalPro team

What to Expect

Exterior Applications

  • We use high quality brushes, rollers and spray equipment to achieve finish coats that are free from runs, drips, sags and other imperfections.
  • We reduce lap marks by keeping a wet edge.
  • Spray and back-roll all rough wood and stucco.
  • Two or more coats applied to fill in cracks and rough areas.
  • Back-roll or brush and roll all primer coats on wood and stucco.
  • Spray doors to achieve smooth finish.
  • Strain paint and remove dust as needed to achieve smooth finish.
  • Apply paint at can consistency.

Interior Applications

  • We use high quality brushes, rollers and spray equipment to achieve finish coats that are free from runs, drips, sags and other imperfections.
  • Reduce lap marks by keeping a wet edge.
  • Brush and roll occupied interiors.
  • Spray and back-roll unoccupied interior.
  • Spray doors to achieve smooth finish.
  • Strain paint and remove dust as needed to achieve smooth finish.

Preparation Standards

Exterior Preparation

  • Pressure wash to remove dirt, cobwebs (minimum drying time: 48 hours).
  • Scrape and sand flaking paint.
  • Remove/treat rust.
  • Prime bare wood, metal, masonry.
  • Re-set loose nails.
  • Caulk windows, trim, door frames.
  • Fill/repair cracks/holes/damaged areas in stucco.
  • Fill/repair holes in wood.
  • Remove light fixtures and misc. hardware, reinstall at completion.
  • Tape/mask windows and all areas not being painted.
  • Cover and protect landscaping and cement.
  • Repair leaky gutters and downspouts.
  • Full cleanup every day, and at the end of the job.

Other items available on request:

  • Dent and ding repair on metal doors.
  • Minor dry-rot repairs.
  • Replace old lights with new lights.
  • Gutter cleaning.
  • Install pigeon/bird deterrents.

Interior Preparation

  • Cover and protect flooring and all areas not being painted.
  • Move furniture items and cover and protect as needed.
  • Remove door hardware and any other items not being painted.
  • Install dust control measures.
  • Fill holes in walls/ceilings and trim/doors.
  • Repair cracks and/or drywall damage and retexture as needed.
  • Scuff-sand glossy surfaces.
  • Caulk gaps in trim and baseboards.
  • Prime all newly textured and patched areas.
  • Prime water stains .
  • Prime all bare wood and metal.
  • Full cleanup every day, and at the end of the job.
